A number of internal PCI dual tuner TV tuner cards also use the MT because it allows a dual-tuner card to be produced that is no larger than a single tuner card. The availability of FM stereo, a quieter VHF broadcast band, in many instances mkcrotune tuner may be modified to improve performance.
13/06/07- I cannot install my TV tuner card in fedora (this problem is irrelevant to my project, but i want it to be solved)Is there an app that will support my PCI digital TV tuner card? I was curious if there is an app in Windows 10 that will allow me to watch, and DVR live TV to watch later. I have an NVIVIA Ge Force GT-240 HDMI video card, a Microtune/Sabrent PCI digital ATSC TV tuner card, and also an ASUS XONAR DG PCI fiber optic sound card. But now I was not getting any sound. I again searched the internet and found the answer. I changed the card number to 3 and everything get solved. I added the line options saa7134 card=3 tuner=37 in /etc/modprobe.conf so that the module will be automatically loaded at the boot time.
Symptoms:I am unable to use my frontech TV tuner card model number jil-0606. Fedora cannot recognize this card.
Causes:
Its a cheap card and manufacture didn't provide the sufficient information on its EEPROM. So fedora cannot recognize it automatically and hence driver is not loaded.
Solutions tried:
1. From internet and using the commands dmesg and Lspci -v, i was able to figure out that it is saa7130 chip based card. The thing to do here is to figure out the card type and tuner number by yourself and load the modules .
2. But in fedora there are 108 cards with different tuner number number. The last tuner number I tried was 71 and the list was more than 71 I think. So I sticked to card number 3 and tried different variations of tuner number from 1 to 71. I used modprobe saa7134 card=3 tuner=x command where x is the tuner number.
I used dmesg after each modprobe to see what system the tuner belongs. I used TvTime to check whether these settings are working. After checking each module, i had to unload them by rmmod saa7134 command, so that the next module can be loaded.
3. I got the TV signals on tuner number 6,22,24,35,42,49 and 60. When i reached 71 it hanged.
4. The TV broadcasting system in India uses PAL B standard. But unfortunately there was not any standard in the tuner like that it was PAL or PAL_BG. Unfortunately the tuners on which I got the TV signal was of varying standards. They were:
6 - Temic NTSC
22 - Temic PAL/SECAM multi
24 - Philips PAL/SECAM multi
35 - Temic PAL_DK/SECAM_2
42 - Philips 1236D ATSC/NTSC Dual
49 - Microtune 4042 FI5 ATSC/NTSC Dual in
60 - Thomson DTT 761X(ATSC/NTSC)
One thing to note here is PAL_DK is as much as different to PAL as PAL to NTSC. In all the cases i was able to get only picture but no sound from my card. Also I was not able to scan the channels because there was a message 'No Frequency' in TvTime. So i guess the card number is not correct as well as the tuner number.
So in last 'm again where i started from. The main problem is the card itself. It doesn't specify sufficient about it in its EEPROM.
Solution:
Problem solved on 27/06/07
Actually the problem was tvtime software, which just couldn't recognize my card for my thousands of attempts. It's really thousand attempts, I wasted too much time for trying different cards and tuners. I installed kdetv that comes with fedora 7. First i tried different cards from my chosen 37 cards ( I identified the cards that have the same input as my Frontech card ) and tuner number 5. In first attempt I got only one channel that can be barely seen. Then i tried the card=17 tuner=37 and I got four channels with good picture. Then from channel configuration of kdetv I chose manual channel selection, didn't touch the maximum and minimum frequency and set the interval for searching 1MHz and I got all the channels.
But now I was not getting any sound. I again searched the internet and found the answer. I changed the cardnumber to 3 and everything get solved. I added the line options saa7134 card=3 tuner=37 in /etc/modprobe.conf so that the module will be automatically loaded at the boot time.

All the instrument needs to get it working, is a pitchbend control and a set range for the pitchbend. Set the PB range in your synth to match the range in the device and you're set ! So if you want to tune your instruments to 432hz, set the PB range to match that of your synth. And in the box below, the cents (float), enter -31,766. Now the instrument is set to 432hz. Can some body help me, when I use before a instrument, and use my tuner at 444 actually the micro tuner don't change anything. |
Hi Moonrow, does your instrument support PitchBend messages? Then MicroTuner should work (as it does the shifting by a defined pitchbend message); set PB range in Microtuner to the same value as the Pitchbend sensitivity of the Instrument, otherwise the calculation would be wrong. HTH, cheers Rob |
Don't forget to load 2.1 from the dropbox link. What Instrument? External or Internal? Support for exclusive 2.2. Which is only necessary for Ableton beta testers or the very recent update. Best, Marco New in 2.2: - under certain conditions settings have not been restored, correct tuning only after 'touching' PB range - this is fixed now |
Hi there, great that you updated my device...but charging money for it is a bit odd, don't you think ? Would love to see how it works...but I'm not gonna pay for it. Hope you will remove the money thing... If you made it from scratch...ok...but altering a device I made (with a little help from someone) and charging money...come on... Sharing is caring ;) |
Hey, I think so to. : D Well you don't have to pay for it. ; ) It is optional. We all know why I did this. Check Facebook and the Guy who isn't Lance. : ) But I will make 2.2. also available here so you guys don't have to write to me. Although please do if you want to collab or release. Best, Marco |

Hello, i need help please. i have downloaded micro tuner, ableton has open but can't find the micro tuner maybe i'm just dumm ;-) Any advice please. thank you |
Hi Robert, did you copy the device (the file MICROTUNER 2.2.amxd) to the User Library Folder (and here in the Folder for Max MIDI Effects) of Ableton Live (e.g. AbletonUser LibraryPresetsMIDI EffectsMax MIDI Effect)? If the device file is there, it should show up in Live's Browser. HTH, cheers Rob |

Heya - I have the device before the Operater synth and it gets me to A=432 fine, but when I put it in front of the Massive Synth it doesn't work... any help with this would be much appreciated. thanks P |
oh... just found out I can global tune the massive synth.... it would still be helpful if the microtuner worked tho for presets... cheers... |
Hi phlipsky, the only reason why Massive does not respond to microtuner is, that in massive the pitchbend sensivity is set to 0. As microtuner does nothing else than sending out pitchbend messages, this could be the reason. Pls let me know if this helps! Cheers Rob |
Hi Rob and others :-), I tried your micro tune, but nothing is happening. Tried Operator as well, but there isn't any PB changing. Even strange PB numbers I tried to the extreme, but nothing is happening. I'm I doing something wrong? Thanks Regards, Lars |
Hi Lars, you always have to make sure also that the synth actually reacts to Pitchbend Messages in the same amount as specified in MicroTuners PB Range (for example 12 semitones). If the pitchbend sensitivity of the synth is Zero, nothing will, happen (even if you change MicroTuners PB Range) ... ;-) HTH Rob |
Hi, I am trying to use the device but it only works with negative values, meaning I can only use the negative cents while with the positive ones the pitch doesn't change. I have tried both Analog and Operator set with a pb range of 2 and the microtune as well but I can only get the above result. Thanks Marco |

Great little pluggin! Thanks, seems to be working fine. But I do have a question. Is there a way to tune individual notes? to create different forms of temperament? |
@mrmuzzi / Marco: thanks; you're absolutely right! A fixed version will be provided soon! cheers Rob |
@DrZ: No, this is not the intention of MicroTuner; you have to use a synth that supports microtonal scales - I think that is what you want. best regards Rob |
Thank you so much, for a great device ! it's fantastic and easy to use! I have one question, and i do apologize if it would sound dumb, but i always thought that pitch and frequency is really correlate to each other.... So if you detune pitch, then frequency will change.... but using my spectrum analyzer after detuning my instrument frequency stayed at the same place.... So what i did .... i 'detuned' build-in ableton grand-piano instrument and then bounced it as an audio file (just so experiment would be absolute clear) and then i bounced another audio file but without detuning. And yes, they sound absolutely different! but my spectrum analyzer showing me that there is no difference in frequencies between these two audio files what so ever.... So i have a logical question now..... how it is possible that one piano was tuned to A - 440 and another one to 432.... and yet they share the same shape the same parameters of frequencies. Again, i am supper noob at this kind of stuff.... but there is no logical explanation at list in my head..... please give me a wisdom ^_^ |

Hi Xake, So you are saying u can't see any difference in Spectrum Analyzer when tuning down to 432? This is not possible. What kind of analyzer are you using? Usually the spectrum is the same just more to the left since it is detuned. Just hover with your mouse inside 'Spectrum' and there will be a small box in the left corner showing you the exact frequency, note and dB. Basically you can tune just using Spectrum. Although the new Tuner device (Ableton Beta) or Turbotuner (External Tuner) are more accurate. Hope i am understanding you here. If not please be more clear about what you are trying to say. Thank you. Best, Marco |
Functionality is great and I am totally impressed with it. |
Hi all i'm just starting out in Ableton and music theory and prod per se. i would like to start right away with 432 and other frecwencies. i downloaded the device and it is installed and i can drag it to the device area in Ableton. i am not sure now what happens, i have no idea about pitch bend or ranges and the numbers...learning by doing. how can i or what numbers must i enter if i am just using my mouse to make music? can i use the micrtuner just with the mouse or do i have to use a controller? i have a controller, it the Akai MPK Mini II, it has a pitch bend on it. what numbers must i enter for it into microtuner to get 432? Any help is appreciated on working without a controller and with the AKAI MPK Mini II Bests Steve Om |
Good day! Thank's for your work & works of previous authors. I have downloaded 2.3 version. I have one unpleasant case. Every time, when I change presets in Sylenth, my settings of microtuner stop working until I drag up & down PB range value. Could you advise how to fix it? Have a nice day! |
Cards With Sound
Is it not compatible with Ableton 10?? Thanks |

Hi, I have a similar question to Robert's - I know this is really basic but for some reason i can't find the Ableton User Library... where should the Ableton folder be that has the User LibraryPresetsetc. ? Thank you! |
Actually I just found it! It wasn't showing up in my spotlight until I just tried it again somehow... I should have if figured out from here but I'll write here again if I have any other questions. Peace. |
